The Corinthia Hotel London played hosted to the marine industry's finest as the Motor Boat Awards returned for 2019. Take a look behind the scenes
With a new date, a new venue and a fantastic fleet of boats to honour, the Motor Boat Awards returned with a bang this week (May 7). The evening began at the magnificent Corinthia London Hotel with a drinks reception, before the assembled guests were invited to take their seats.
Our hosts for the evening, editor Hugo Andreae and deputy editor Jack Haines, gave a short summary of the year just gone, including a video tribute to the late Sunseeker founder Robert Braithwaite, who passed away in March. After dinner, Hugo and Jack announced the winners in each of the 11 categories, with our esteemed sponsors helping us to hand out the awards.
Following the presentation of the judge’s special award, the evening officially drew to a close, although reports suggest that the hotel’s all-night bar was put to good use.
“In this industry there are very few awards ceremonies that really dig in deep and have the integrity and the solid foundation of understanding boating that MBY has,” said Kiran Haslam, marketing director of Princess Yachts. “And so it’s a tremendous honour to be considered for a Motor Boat Award.”
We’d like to thank all our sponsors for making this event possible and helping us to celebrate the very best that boating has to offer – let’s do it all again next year!
