Crews gather for the start of the second cruise of the season
This afternoon boats have assembled at Premier Gosport Marina for the start of the second cruise of the year. Weather permitting the 23-boat fleet will visit Cherbourg, Jersey, St Malo, St Cast, Binic, Paimpol and Guernsey over the next two weeks.
Participants gathered outside The Boathouse restaurant for the inaugural briefing at 6pm. Cruise Leader, Neale Byart, addressed the fleet, informing everyone of the plans for the next couple days. On this cruise Neale will assisted by Guernseyman Richard Poat, and marine engineer Ryan Field.
Unfortunately the blustery conditions today are set to continue into tomorrow, so the decision has been made to stay put. Crews will have the day to explore Gosport and Portsmouth.
The fleet consists of boats of all shapes, sizes and speeds. The smallest at 29 foot and the largest at 58 foot, with speeds between 17 and 35 knots. There is also the usual mixture of new faces and old, plus two tiny tot crew, one 18 months (from Sealine SC35 Aurora) and one 10 months (from Fairline Targa 44 Breeze).
