Force 8's and 9's delay start of the cruise
Friday 11th May
High winds and rough seas
In the schedule, this was to be the day of the Cruise Briefing. Coming from near and far, boats would have assembled in Ramsgate harbour to mark the start of the Motor Boats Monthly Bruges cruise, some embarking on their first channel crossing tomorrow. Unfortunately the weather has other ideas. Earlier in the week the UK was hit by a series of low-pressure systems, which have dominated the weather this week. With a gusting Force 9 south-westerly overnight, a Force 7-8 into today, and more wind forecast for tomorrow, the outlook for the weekend is not looking favourable. With a scattered fleet and bad weather, Cruise Leader, Neale Byart has taken the decision to postpone the briefing till Sunday night, when the weather is looking more settled, and everyone has gathered in Ramsgate. There is currently a good possibility of making a channel crossing on Monday.
