The girls come out to help launch the new Monte Carlo 37
There are many ways to promote a new boat, and today Beneteau pulled one from the textbook – semi-naked girls and body paint. Before you could say ‘aren’t you cold?’ a hungry media scrum had formed and the flashes were lighting up ExCeL like New Years. It almost makes you wonder if the French firm was trying to distract us from its brand spanking new Monte Carlo 37. Well, it worked? briefly. But Beneteau really had nothing to hide. The boat is a beaut. All curves and nice-smelling upholstery. It’s certainly something new for the company, but is not a million miles away in looks from Fairline’s Targa range. You’ll have to judge for yourselves, of course? As you’d expect, the marketing men were full of praise for their creation, and are hoping the Monte Carlo has “a major impact on the sportscruiser market”. And they’re not stopping at the 37. Over the next 24 months, four other Monte Carlos will be released – a 27, 32, 42 and 45.
