259-foot vessel to head-up strong Naval presence at Bank holiday show
The largest free boat show in the Channel Islands will once again host a fleet of Royal Navy vessels, it has been confirmed.
HMS Severn, a 259-foot offshore patrol vessel, will be one of the star attractions for Naval enthusiasts at this weekend’s Barclays Jersey Boat Show (3-5 May).
As we reported earlier this month, the show is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors to St Helier Marina and will include exhibits from Windy, Broom, Fairline, Sunseeker and Aqua Star.
Organisers are already hailing this year’s show as their biggest ever, with a record exhibitor presence on the water and on land.
What’s more, a Royal Marines offshore raiding craft, specially commissioned to mark the RM’s 350th anniversary, will be making its public debut at the Jersey show.
Myra Shacklady, Group Commercial Director for Ports of Jersey, welcomed the strong Royal Navy presence at the show, saying:
“Not only will their attendance at the show be a great visual experience but is equally a reminder of the vital work the Royal Navy does, both at home and further afield in safeguarding our seas.”
