Be it furniture, boats or moody cop dramas Scandinavia is synonymous with cool so we had to get some Nordic apparel into the MBY Cool 50.
Helly Hansen’s Crew H2Flow strikes the perfect balance between functional and stylish making it a great option for a motorboat owner. Sailor’s may get caught out in heaving seas, howling wind and lashing rain but most motor boaters just need something that is warm and tough enough to rebuff the odd bit of spray and the oh so inevitable rain shower.
That’s not to say the H2Flow is lacking in technology. It’s waterproof, windproof and breathable, fully seam sealed and has a comfortable fleece-lined collar. The patented venting system allows you to adjust airflow (hence the name) so you can allow a cooling rush of air in if it’s a bit toasty after a stint clambering around the engineroom.
The four external zip pockets are particularly useful in practice, meaning you can safely load up with valuables as you negotiate the decks or cross between tender and mothership without worrying that your cat keys might go for an impromptu solo scuba. The only thing it could do with is a hood to keep the raindrops at bay.
It’s a smart looking garment, though, nicely tailored and not overtly designed to be used on the water, it would be just as useful for walking the dog or the walk to dinner. It comes in sizes S to XXL and is available in navy, dark gull (grey) and white. The latter will look tremendous when new but will act as somewhat of a blank canvas for scuff marks and other boaty grime so best to go for navy or gull, we reckon. The H2Flow won’t break the back, either, it’s a great all-rounder.
