Created as a shadow boat for a sailing superyacht, Stargazer boasts classic lines as well as an impressive 900-mile range
Stargazer, the 23 metre motor launch penned by Hoek Design Naval Architects, was launched earlier this month, her Dutch build yard Claasen has revealed.
This custom motor yacht will be used for ferrying guests to and from the mothership, but can also explore on her own, with a 900-mile cruising range and a shallow draft of just 1.5 metres, so she can cruise to remote anchorages for coral diving and snorkelling.
Stargazer’s lines are as elegant as they come, with the flared bow drawing back to a slender, rounded transom and the bulwarks topped with highly varnished timber.
Claasen is renowned for its superyacht levels of fit and finish, indeed the Dutch yard has J-Class yacht builds on its impressive CV. For the aluminium hull, it collaborated with Vitters Shipyard – a first for the two historic yards.
André Hoek, on the other hand, is more of a Claasen regular – this is his 27th project with the yard. “It is a timeless and classic design which perfectly fits the style of the mothership,” commented the designer. “This motorboat differs from all other tenders, which definitely makes it a unique project.”
Due to Stargazer’s intended use, the deck spaces are sparse, though the sheltered cockpit and pilothouse combine to make a wonderful main socialising area. Below decks, she has three spacious double cabins, which can be used by as accommodation for either crewmembers or guests of the mothership.
Power comes from a pair of Scania 912hp diesel engines driving straight shafts, which the yard estimates will translate into a top speed of 25 knots.
