Third year for the luxury-focussed London On-Water Show

The London On-Water Show returns for 2017. Based at the recently refurbished St Katharine Docks, positioned next to Tower Bridge and central London’s only marina, the exhibition runs from Thursday 8th June through to Sunday 10th.

Open from 11am to 8pm (6pm on the last day), the show that began as the London Yacht, Jet and Prestige Show in 2015 has undergone a subtle shift of emphasis for 2017.

With the loss of the Billingsgate indoor facility, the private jet and helicopter element has gone, but to the benefit of the marine side of the show, which has seen extra focus this year.

The usual luxury yacht brands are expected to be there again, plus sailing boats, RIBs, tenders and dinghies, all accessible for viewing.

But it’s the new features that are set to add an extra dimension this year. A huge screen positioned on Marble Quay will be displaying live TV coverage and video reports of the America’s Cup yacht race direct from Bermuda.

A Mariner’s Village will present an eclectic mix of nautical goods, including clothing, electronics, chandlery and gifts. And Canal Boat World will be bringing the delights of narrowboat inland cruising to the city.

Adding movement to the show will be a land based dinghy park with a selection of sailing boats afloat ready to be tried out.

And intriguingly, the lock to the central basin of the marina will be opened for a few hours either side of high tide to facilitate another new feature, which will be the ability to book a sea trial in order to experience the boat of their choice out on the River Thames (although trials will need to be booked in advance with the exhibitors).

Supercars haven’t been forgotten, with a wide range of exotic vehicles on display at the Supercar Showcase on Marble Quay – the organisers promising Ferraris to E-Type Jaguars.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy St Katharine Docks’ wide range of restaurants, bars and pubs, serenaded over all four days by live music ranging from jazz to country to rock and roll.

Entrance to the land exhibits will be free, with a £5 access charge to the pontoons, proceeds of which will go to the Sailability charity.
