Sunseeker banked more than £25million of sales in the first weekend of the Southampton Boat Show
Sunseeker banked more than £25million of sales in the first weekend of the Southampton Boat Show.
The company announced strong sales across a wide range of yachts. Southampton, the UK’s largest in-water show, has proved extremely busy for Sunseeker with a record number of pre-booked meetings with prospects.
Interest in the new Manhattan 52 has been ‘exceptional’; Sunseeker’s smallest flybridge model in over a decade exemplifies the company’s cutting-edge design.
Throughout 2016, Sunseeker have launched five models including the 131 Yacht, 95 Yacht, 116 Yacht, 68 MK II and Manhattan 52.
“The first weekend at Southampton Boat Show has been extraordinary and we are pleased that the Manhattan 52 has commanded so much interest,” said International Sales Director Sean Robertson.
“It’s testament to our substantial investment in new model development which is having broad appeal from both existing clients and customers new to the brand, keen to join the Sunseeker family.
“The show has predicted to attract 90,000 people over the 10-day period and we look forward to welcoming even more visitors to the stand.”
Southampton sales add to the £25m of orders taken at the recent Cannes Yachting Festival, including the innovative new Manhattan 52 and the magnificent new 95 Yacht.
CEO Phil Popham said the company also expected £15m in further orders by the end of the Southampton Boat Show.
He told SIBS16 visitors that the company is not just focusing on the top end of the market but the medium range too. “This market continues to evolve and change,” he said. “If you don’t, you get left behind.”
The company moved back in to profit in the second quarter of 2016 with a forecast overall return to profit for the full year.
£50 million of investment is planned on new products, improved shipyard facilities and continued recruitment.
Multiple new model launches will continue across the size range over the next five years, including additions to the Manhattan range with the 66 model to be launched at London Boat Show 2017.
Sunseeker sold boats worth more than £25 million at the recent Cannes Boat Show too, and expect to take a further £15 million in post-show sales.
Sunseeker launched four models at Cannes, including the 95 Yacht, 116 Yacht, 68 MK II and Manhattan 52.
“The Cannes Show has been highly successful and we are pleased to have had such a strong reception to our new models, in particular the Manhattan 52, which made its world debut and really stole the show,” said Sean Robertson.
