Work on 300-berth marina in East Cowes expected to begin in spring 2011
A new 300-berth marina development planned for East Cowes on the Isle of Wight has cleared a major hurdle by being granted full planning consent.
The marina is part of the wider Cowes Outer Harbour Project, which encompasses a permanent car park, a 60-bed hotel, townhouses and 324sq m of commercial floorspace.
Work on the marina is expected to begin in spring next year.
“This decision and planning consent is great news and a major step towards delivering the Outer Harbour Plan that will finally make Cowes a truly sheltered harbour, improving safety,” said Cowes harbourmaster and chief executive of Cowes Harbour Commissioners Captain Stuart McIntosh.
“It is also a significant step towards securing the long-term future prosperity of the harbour and the local economy.”
