Outer Reef Yachts to unveil Quik Code System at Fort Lauderdale

QR codes printed on Outer Reef equipment will send users to the relevant page of their owner’s manual

Keen to remain at the forefront of technology, Outer Reef Yachts has announced plans to print QR codes on its new models.

The American manufacturer will be unveiling its Quik Code System, which will link to the relevant pages in the owner’s manual, at this month’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (30 October – 3 November).

When a QR code is scanned it directs a smartphone or tablet to a particular web page, for example MBY uses QR codes to direct readers from our print magazine to our online videos.

In this instance, the idea is that by scanning the code printed on a particular piece of equipment on board an Outer Reef Yacht, owners, captains and engineers can save the effort of flipping through the pages of their manual to find the information they are looking for.

Outer Reef points out that this is not the first time the company has been early adopters of new technology, and indeed it claims to be the first long-range yacht manufacturer to provide an iPad version of the owner’s manual.

Jeff Druek, president and CEO of Outer Reef Yachts, said: “A streamlined information-gathering experience, with the click of a button, will help the owner better maintain and manage various equipment and electronics.

“By employing time-saving, cutting-edge technology, we make it easier for owners to spend more time cruising and enjoying their Outer Reef.”

Following its unveiling at Fort Lauderdale, the new Quik Code System will be rolled out on all Outer Reef models worldwide.
