In our latest Used Boat video Chris Jefferies discovers the finesse and driver-focussed charms of the brilliant Windy 52 Xanthos
The Windy 52 Xanthos was launched in 2005 and, from launch, was available in two guises.
The 52 Xanthos had an open cockpit with a transom bench and sliding doors to close off the saloon, whilst the 53 Balios (which is the same length despite the different model number) had a more Mediterranean layout with a raised sunpad aft over a tender garage.
It’s at the helm, though, where these models really shine and you get a proper insight into what the boat is about – driving.
The helm position adjusts to fit the helmsman perfectly, not just with the normal things like a sliding bolster seat and adjustable steering wheel but also a separate plinth for the throttles that rises and lowers at the touch of a button and a footrest that slides out electronically from the seat base.
Power comes from a pair of Volvo Penta D12s with 775hp per side for a top speed of over 40 knots or there is the most popular triple IPS 600 version.
Prices for a 52 range from £400,000 to £500,000 depending on age and you can read the full report in the May 2016 issue of Motor Boat & Yachting.
