Next year’s Miami International Boat Show will be the last to take place at the Beach Convention Centre for the foreseeable future
Miami Boat Show organiser the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has announced a new venue that will host the show in 2016 and 2017.
Miami Marine Stadium will be hosting the boat show for two years while the Miami Beach Convention Centre is renovated.
The 2015 Miami Boat Show will run at the Beach Convention Centre from February 12-16 as planned, but then the organisers will start planning the move.
Named in 2009 as one of America’s 11 most endangered historic places, Miami Marine Stadium hosted concerts and powerboat racing until 1992, when it was hit by Hurricane Andrew.
Following an extensive renovation, the stadium should provide a spectacular backdrop for the Miami Boat Show, if the artist’s impression (above) is anything to go by.
Despite only committing to two years at the Miami Marine Stadium, the NMMA is looking into the possibility of making it the show’s home in the longer term.
Thom Dammrich, president of the NMMA, said: “With unique features to accommodate the more than 100,000 boaters who travel from throughout the globe to experience the best the boating industry has to offer, Miami Marine Stadium could be poised to be a home for the boat show in 2016 and beyond.”
