A man died yesterday in a collision between two powered craft off Palace Pier, Brighton, yesterday evening.
A man died yesterday in a collision between two powered craft off Palace Pier, Brighton, yesterday evening.
Both boats involved were said to be from the local area with four on one and three on the other. The crews apparently knew one another.
The collision appears to have happened when one sportsboat struck the side of the other. In addition to the one person killed, another is in hospital with serious injuries.
Police are now questioning two men, believed to be the drivers, on suspicion of manslaughter.
Peter Baker, Deputy District Controller for Solent Coastguard said: “This appears to be a tragic accident which has marred a busy weekend of marine leisure along the coast.”
