In July, the RNLI will open its doors to the public
The RNLI is offering boaters a chance to peek behind the scenes when it stages its first open day in two years in July.
On 21 and 22 of that month, the doors of the RNLI’s headquarters in Poole will be swung open for all to see for themselves what the organisation does and how it spends the public’s money.
Emma Cutler, the RNLI’s national exhibitions and projects manager, said the public should expect live rescue demonstrations, beach and sea safety presentations and exciting happenings in the sea survival pool.
You’ll also have a chance to talk to lifeguards and lifeboat crews about what it’s like to volunteer and work for the institution.
Cutler said: “Our lifeguards and lifeboats are easily visible to the public on our local beaches and at sea, but hopefully this weekend event will give everyone the opportunity to see the training and hard work behind the scenes that our volunteers and lifeguards undertake in order to become world class lifesavers – and how every penny really does count in helping the organisation run smoothly.”
