National Boat Shows blames lack of a suitable site for cancellation of plans
There will be no Liverpool Boat Show next year, National Boat Shows (NBS) announced today.
NBS has blamed the lack of a suitable site for the cancellation of plans to stage a boat show in Liverpool that would coincide with the city’s year as the European Capital of Culture.
However, the British Marine Federation-owned company, which organises the London and Southampton boat shows, maintains that Liverpool would be a welcome addition to the boat show calendar.
“We are still very interested in bringing a world-class Boat Show to Liverpool. However, to make it the best-possible show we are unfortunately unable to launch next year,” James Gower, director of marketing at NBS, said.
“We are currently researching various location options for the future. We’ve been delighted with the warm response we’ve received from the city and official bodies, and look forward to working with them again soon. By allowing more time we hope to create a fantastic show for Liverpool and the wider region.”
