The American builder will follow this 45 with a smaller 36
This is a first look at the designs for Cobalt’s new 45.
The new boat, which the American builder recently began work on, owes its lines to Southampton-based naval architects Tony Castro Ltd.
The company said its design brief was to come up with a “dynamic” look, and from these first drawings, it looks like a job well done.
This is a big step for Cobalt, which has so far concentrated on the smaller, sportsboat end of the market. When the 45 comes out, it will be the biggest boat in the Cobalt stable.
The boat will come with twin 425hp diesels, giving it a top speed of 33 knots, and a cruising speed of 30 knots.
A smaller, similar looking 36 is also due to be launched soon.
