ArtCat 46 catamaran from Estonian yard Arteran Group
The ArtCat 46 catamaran prototype from Estonian yard Arteran Group is in the final stages of build before its launch and major boat show tour later this year.
Arteran Group was formed four years ago and the 46 is the first project to be completed, with a 46ft sailing cat currently under development as well.
With boats like the Lagoon Power 43 dropping out of the market there is serious demand for a mid-range catamaran, especially one that looks like this.
The yard boasts that the 46’s lightweight design and efficient twin hulls will make for strong seakeeping and a decent turn of speed, claiming 28 knots flat out with a pair of Steyr 280hp diesels. It will be interesting to see if these ambitious claims stack up under testing.
There are three cabin layouts to choose from including a three cabin option, two doubles and a single or a single owner’s cabin with a smaller guest cabin. The larger owner’s cabin option includes steam jet spa for an extra flash of luxury.
The extra beam makes for a spacious saloon, helped out buy Arteran’s brave use of glazing and that sleek windscreen. There is room for a generous dinette opposite the comprehensive galley as well as single helm station forward.
On the flybridge the is acres of seating – Arteran says there is enough to sit ten in comfort – plus a wet-bar and another single helm station to steer from.
It’s great to see a new yard being so brave with a catamaran concept and we’ll hopefully be getting a full test of the boat after launch.
