Concern over the state of the hull of the container ship MSC Napoli led to the vessel being re-beached
Concern over the state of the hull of the container ship MSC Napoli led to the vessel being re-beached on the Dorset coast this afternoon. Divers inspected the ship after it was refloated on Monday and found that the crack in the hull had deteriorated and was some 3m wide in places.
The vessel was incapable of being towed, and was re-beached in shallower waters north of where she was originally sitting. Discussions will now take place between all interested parties to decide what to do with the stricken ship.
