Porter and Haylett announces plans to revise its boatbuilding operations
A number of jobs are at risk after an announcement from Porter and Haylett that it is to review operations at its boatyard in Wroxham, Norfolk, and possibly outsource its boatbuilding.
A statement from Porter and Haylett said:
“The business is considering whether an external boatbuilding business could carry out some or all of the boatbuilding requirements in the future. We are working very closely with the teams in Wroxham to understand their views on this proposal and what impact this would have on them and the business”.
Porter and Haylett builds cruisers and liveaboards, as well as sailboats. It has also provided the hire fleet boats for Connoisseur and Crown Blue Line for the last 30 years.
Porter and Haylett declined to comment further on the announcement but it did confirm reports that its boatyard at Somerleyton, Suffolk is also at risk.
