Builder gets together with Conran design house to rework interiors of existing models
It may be hard times at Sealine right now , but the boatbuilder has refused to let economic worries halt its product development.
MD Steve Coultate recently confirmed that Sealine’s spend on new design work will continue as planned and announced a potentially exciting tie up with design house Conran.
The two brands are working together on core elements of Sealine’s on-board design and finish that will form part of a new premium motorboat range marketed as ‘Aura’.
“We believe this is where our customers want to see the money going, into new boat models and developments,” said Coultate.
“Our development expenditure has been up by around 25% up over the last two years and that will continue.”
The first taste of the Conran influence will come in a reworked T60 interior to be unveiled in January, with a T50 Aura expected to follow.
As part of this development push MBM has also discovered that a new SC sportscruiser model will be unveiled in September 2009.
No details are currently available, but there is a clear gap between the current SC38 and SC47 models.
