The 88 Motor Yacht, V48 and 43 will all make their official debuts
Princess will launch three new models at September’s PSP Southampton Boat Show, the 88 Motor Yacht, V48 and 43 flybridge.
The 88 Motor Yacht has been heavily influenced by the yard’s flagship 40M superyacht, especially the hull, which is a resin-infused hybrid design aimed at maximising performance and handling but also efficiency.
Owners can opt for either four or five ensuite cabins and touches like the GRP hardtop and a folding balcony in the saloon enhance the superyacht feeling.
The 43 is the long-awaited replacement for the legendary 42. The changes look to be restrained and more of an evolutionary makeover than a totally new design but this is what we’re used to from Princess.
The updates include a freshening up of the exterior including Princess’s signature elongated portholes and a more contemporary interior, which uses lighter woods and more modern textures and fabrics.
It’s a little surprising to see the omission of a full-beam master cabin amidships and the almost compulsory hull windows but Princess says the 43 offers “flexible accommodation for up to six guests”.
Finally the V48, which made its mini debut at May’s British Motor Yacht Show, will have its full launch at Southampton.
This is Princess’s first production IPS boat – IPS600, to be precise – and it’s going bow to bow with Fairline’s newest model, the Targa 48 Open, which will also be launched at the show.
The V48 has a fully enclosed upper saloon plus an open cockpit on the main deck. Below decks there is a full-beam midships master suite and the option of a third bunk cabin in place of the standard dinette.
You can read the full boat report on the Targa 48 Open in the September issue of MBY (out on Thursday) and a full boat report on the V48 will follow in the October issue (out September 5).
