Motorboat builder to pump £15m into redevelopment of 15-acre site, which will be used to build superyachts
Princess today unveiled plans for its new South Yard manufacturing site in Plymouth, which will be used to build its new range of 100ft-plus boats.
The £15m development within the historic naval dockyard of Devonport will lead to 200 new jobs at the company, Princess said, and brings to six the number of Princess locations in the city.
The 15-acre site was acquired by the motorboat builder last year, and work on the first Princess M Class yachts has already begun at South Yard.

Chris Gates, MD of Princess, said, “We are now entering the next exciting phase of our redevelopment of the 15-acre South Yard site.
“This vast facility has already enabled us to move successfully into the ‘superyacht’ arena with our technically advanced M Class yachts and this next phase will ensure we also have an appropriate world-class facility to build them in, just a short distance away from our headquarters in Newport Street.”
The plans for the redevelopment will now go out to consultation before Princess applies for planning permission.
