Two men have been taken to hospital after the gangway to HMS Belfast collapsed earlier this afternoon
HMS Belfast had to be evacuated on Tuesday when the gangway between the shore and the ship gave way, resulting in two workers being taken to hospital for “minor” injuries.
Following the incident, 170 people were evacuated from the ship by boat and taken to London Bridge Pier. So far there have been no reports of serious injuries.
Work has been being carried out on the gangway for the past seven weeks.
HMS Belfast is now expected to remain closed to visitors while the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigates what caused the gangway to collapse.
