Draft legislation issued by HM Revenue & Customs will affect all private pleasure craft users
In a shocking, new, legislation revision proposal announced today by HM Revenue & Customs it states that ‘…red diesel for use as fuel for propelling private pleasure craft can only be used in UK Waters’. If the proposed revisions go ahead, the new measures will take effect from 1 April 2012.
The proposal also goes on to say, ‘All purchasers will be made aware that if they travel outside UK waters they will be subject to the restrictions and prohibitions of other Member States’. This means that anyone outside UK waters found with traces of red diesel in their tanks, regardless of whether they have filled up with white diesel, risks being taxed, or even fined.
