Day 10 – Channel Islands & Brittany Cruise

A bouncy day for some in St Cast and its a no-go for Binic

The southerly wind strengthened early morning and crews aboard boats moored on the breakwater woke to find them bouncing and snatching on their lines. Three boats took the opportunity to go inside the marina for shelter, and in the gusty conditions were assisted into berths by other crews and the MBM team. The four largest vessels plus the two control boats, Blue Fin and Time Flies, remained pinned to the breakwater. Ropes were readjusted and extra fenders were added to cope with the wind and chop which later touched an unpredicted Force 6.

A move to Binic was scheduled for this evening but by the 1515 radio briefing it was clear the wind was showing no remorse. The fleet will stay in St Cast another night and will try again tomorrow for the early morning tide into Binic. It will be a very early start with radios on at 0430 with the first boats will be going out at 0500hrs. Ribeye support boat Time Flies will go first to check the conditions at 0400hrs.

As I write the wind has dropped considerably but there is still the clop clop clop on the hull of Blue Fin.
