Russian President Vladimir Putin visits Frigate shipwreck 200ft below the surface of the water
Known for his eccentric photo opportunities, Russian President Vladimir Putin has been captured diving down aboard the submersible vessel Sea Explorer 5 bathyscaphe in the Gulf of Finland.
Putin dived 200ft in a mission to see the naval frigate Oleg, which sank off the island of Gogland, 110 miles west of St Petersberg, Russia, in 1869.
After 30 minutes Putin surfaced with a smile on his face and praised the work of the Russian Geographic Society, which has been studying the wreck.
Putin previously dived to see another wreck in 2011, although he later admitted that the ancient pottery he discovered was a set-up.
