Don't miss what is one of the most bizarre events in the country - the Brambles Bank cricket match will be held in the Solent tomorrow
The Brambles Bank Cricket Match – an annual cricket match held on a tiny slither of sandbank in the middle of the Solent – is a little slice of English eccentricity.
The match, which is played between The Island Sailing Club and the Royal Southern Yacht Club is played on the lowest tide of the year when the sandbank rises from the sea just off the coast of the Isle of Wight and a band of merry revellers and players descend on it, complete with a makeshift bar and cricket whites, for as long as the tide allows.
This year’s match will take place tomorrow at 18.23.
