UK East Coast boaters may be interested to hear of a massive offshore windfarm being built off Zeebrugge.
It is one of Europe’s largest offshore wind energy projects, with a likely 60 wind turbines.
The first “demonstration” phase consists of six high-power turbines to be installed by October 2008, 25km off the coast on Thornton bank.
The main body of the farm is likely to be built between 2011 and 2012.
