Celebs love boats too
The Southampton Boat Show plays host to some glamorous boats, but glamorous faces will be among them too.
The most distinguished will be HRH The Princess Royal and Sir Keith Mills, Team Principal of TeamOrigin. They will be joined by some of the most famous faces from the sailing community, many of whom have been honoured by the Queen, including Olympic Gold Medallist Ben Ainslie MBE, Alex Thomson, Mike Golding OBE, Dee Caffari, Dame Ellen MacArthur and Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.
Television fans will not be disappointed either. Coronation Street stars Simon Gregson and Sue Cleaver (aka Steve and Eileen, pictured) will be paying the show a visit, along with ITV Meridian presenter Fred Dinenage.
The boat show will also play host to Tim Seely, the last surviving cast member of the 1962 film Mutiny on the Bounty, who will have an emotional reunion with HMS Bounty. The replica ship used in the film has been touring the country and will be docked at the show.
Andrew Williams, Managing Director of National Boat Shows, said: “We are sure that all visitors will have an enjoyable experience at the show, made all the better by some famous face spotting as well!”
The Southampton Boat Show at Mayflower Park runs from 14 to 23 September.
Youngsters aged 15 and under get free admission, provided they are with a paying adult.
