Quicksilver, Örnvik and Uttern boats in recall

Around 2,300 boats in Europe affected

Brunswick Marine are recalling certain Quicksilver, Örnvik and Uttern boats as it investigates a small number of reports of fuel leaks on the crafts. Approximately 3,200 boats, mostly sold in Europe, are involved.

“We take our responsibility to ensure the safety of our customers very seriously,” said Tony Rudd, vice president and general manager, European Boat Business Unit. “Although our investigation is ongoing, we voluntarily launched the recall and alerted our dealers to notify their customers of the potential problem.”

The company said it initiated the investigation following a report of a fire on a boat moored in the harbor at Cannes, France.

The investigation into the cause of the fire, and whether or not it was the result of a fuel leak, is not yet complete. The fuel tank on this boat and other boats subject to the recall were manufactured by Bonar Plastics France.

In communications to its dealers, Brunswick Marine is asking them to temporarily halt the sale of any of these models that may still be in inventory as well as to contact owners of these craft.

Owners are being asked to bring their boats to their nearest dealer and to not use their boats until repairs can be made.

A complete listing of the affected models and serial numbers is available by going to the Brunswick Marine website at www.brunswickmarineemea.eu and clicking on the “Voluntary Product Recall Information” button on the home page.

“We regret the inconvenience to our customers; however, we are taking this action because their safety remains our highest priority,” Rudd added.
