What’s at the British Motor Show for boaters?

Details of marina plans at summer event

Details are emerging of the boat stands planned at this year’s British International Motor Show.

The event takes place at ExCel, the venue of the Collins Stewart London Boat Show, from 23 July to 3 August.

The organisers of the London and Southampton boat shows, National Boat Shows, have secured spaces for boats at the show with a view to attracting newcomers to the pastime.

There will be two areas for boats:

1. Ultimate Fleet Marina
A collection of luxury yachts over 20m overlooking the Heritage Enclosure, which will showcase the history of the supercar over the past 50 years.

2. Marine Experience Marina
Located on the existing dock edge, there will be approximately 70 berths for a range of craft from PWCs, dinghies and inflatables to sail and power boats up to 20m.

There will be a Try-A-Boat stand and the Royal Victoria Dock will play host to on-water activities throughout the show.

The BIMS is a bi-annual event and expects to attract more than 550,000 visitors this year.

National Boat Shows say: “The BMF and NBS ethos is to get more people into boating and what better way of doing this than at a show that delivered over 415,000 visitors in 2006?”
